Emerick Dee is in his 15th year of teaching and fourth year as choir teacher at Traverse City West Middle School. Mr. Dee is the lead choir teacher @ WMS where he is responsible for the Madrigal Singers (33 auditioned 7th & 8th graders), 8th Grade Treble Choir (about 50 students), 7th Grade Treble Choir (2 sections of about 80 students total), and 6th Grade Choir (4 sections totaling over 150 students). He is the co-teacher for the 7th & 8th Grade Tenor / Bass Choir led by Mr. Erich Wangeman.
He formerly taught at Roscommon HS & MS and Morley Stanwood Community Schools. He graduated from Central Michigan University in 2003. Mr. Dee’s involvement in the Michigan School Vocal Music Association is extensive. His students consistently receive top ratings and highly commendable comments from MSVMA adjudicators. He has served as an accompanist for State Honors Choirs yearly from 2009 through 2018. He directed the 7-8-9 TTB State Honors Choir in 2016. He serves the MSVMA members frequently as an adjudicator and clinician/consultant. He has presented sessions at the MSVMA Summer Workshop. He served as the MSVMA District 9 Manager from 2009-2013 and served on the Full Board of MSVMA as a Supervisor for State Choral Festival from 2013-2015; 2018. He is a contributing content provider for Musician's Toolkit, an online music education resource for teachers and students. Emerick loves spending time with his wife, Janelle, and their four children (Piper, David, William and Georgiana).
Erich Wangeman is a veteran teacher. He is entering his seventh year @ TC West Middle School where he is the lead teacher of the 7th & 8th Grade Tenor / Bass Choir in addition to his responsibilities as the lead choir teacher at TC West Senior High School. And...he has an epic beard! ;-)
